eCFR Subpart CCCC  [ecfr.gov]
This subpart applies to:
- Affected sources at nutritional yeast manufacturing facilities that are, is located at, or is part of, Major Sources of HAPs*.
Affected sources:
- Collection of equipment used in the manufacture of nutritional yeast species Saccharomyces cerevisiae, including fermentation vessels (fermenters).
Definition of "Nutritional yeast manufacturing facility":
- A facility that makes yeast for the purpose of becoming an ingredient in dough for bread or any other yeast-raised baked product, or for becoming a nutritional food additive intended for consumption by humans.
- Does not include production of yeast intended for consumption by animals, such as an additive for livestock feed.
*Major Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:
- ≥ 10 tons/year of any single HAP; or
- ≥ 25 tons/year of total HAPs.
- Area Sources emit less than Major Sources.
Partial Exemptions:
- Emission limitations in this subpart do not apply to:
- Flask fermentation
- Pure-culture fermentation
- Yeasting-tank fermentation
- Any other set-batch fermentation
- Any operations after the last dewatering operation
