Primary Aluminum Reduction Plants -  Subpart LL

Applicability: eCFR Subpart LL [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:
  1. Affected sources associated with primary aluminum production located at Major Sources of HAPs*.
Affected sources (New & Existing):
  1. Pitch storage tanks;
  2. Potlines;
  3. Paste production plants;
  4. Anode bake furnaces.
*Major Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:
  • ≥ 10 tons/year of any single HAP; or
  • ≥ 25 tons/year of total HAPs.
  • Area Sources emit less than Major Sources.

Not subject to this subpart:
  1. Existing anode bake furnaces not located on the same site as a primary aluminum reduction plant;
  2. Potroom groups or anode bake furnaces electing to comply with NSPS S.
Rules apply to small, area sources? No
