Calciners and Dryers in Mineral Industries -  Subpart UUU

Applicability: eCFR Subpart UUU [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:
  1. Affected facilities at mineral processing plants that commence construction, modification, or reconstruction after Apr 23, 1986.
Affected facilities:
  1. Calciners;
  2. Dryers.
For the brick and related clay products industry, only the calcining and drying of raw materials prior to firing of the brick are covered.

Not subject to this subpart:
  1. Affected facilities subject to NSPS LL;
  2. Vertical shaft kilns in the magnesium compound industry;
  3. Chlorination-oxidation processes in the titanium oxide industry;
  4. Coating kilns, mixers, and aerators in the roofing granules industry;
  5. Tunnel kilns, tunnel dryers, apron dryers, and grinding equipment that also dries process material in any of the 17 mineral industries (per 40 CFR 60.731).
