Surface Coating of Metal Furniture -  Subpart EE

Applicability: eCFR Subpart EE [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:
  1. Metal furniture surface coating operations in which organic coatings are applied, and that commenced construction, modification, or reconstruction after Nov 28, 1980.
Definition of "Organic coating"
  • Any coating used in a surface coating operation, including dilution solvents, from which VOC emissions occur during the application or the curing process.

Not subject to this subpart:
  1. Power coating operations;
  2. Facilities that use less than 3,842 liters of coating (as applied) per year*.
*Must keep purchase or inventory records to demonstrate exempt status for at least 2 years
