Site Summary:
Standing Elk Oil service station became a LUST site in late 1998 when one of the nine tanks located at the site failed a tightness test. All nine tanks were removed in December of 1998 and January of 1999. Standing Elk Oil is presently a cafe named the Western Cafe and is open for business. The site is located in the northwestern part of the State in an area described as the high plains region. The topography is described as flat-lying which lies above the Niobrara River valley. The materials of the plains are sandstone and clays. Ground water is approximately 37 feet deep in the area and the soils above the water table are mostly sand with some clay.

Site Specifications:
1. This site will not be re-sampled so the above listed numbers are final.

2. This site has considerable heavy truck traffic on the property. Because of this the owner is concerned about placement of SVE/AS wells. Please contact him to consider the issues he has with lot grading, well placement etc. The owner in the past has been very flexible.

3. This site is not a candidate for overexcvation.

4. The owner would like the islands and lights left in place as the are functional.

5. The owner would like a call before the site is visited by a prospective contractor. I have posted additional phone numbers above to aid in contacting the owner.
