Comments Accepted Through November 7 for Solid Waste Management Study
October 26, 2017 -- Public comments will continue to be accepted through November 7 regarding the development of a solid waste management study that will be finalized and submitted to the Nebraska Legislature in mid-December.
LB1101, passed in the 2016 legislative session, directs the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) to prepare a study to examine the solid waste management programs implemented by the Department. The purpose of the study is to examine the need to modernize and potentially revise the state’s solid waste management programs.
NDEQ and its consultant for the study, Engineering Solutions and Design, Inc., conducted two public meetings in mid-October, following the issuance of a draft study. NDEQ will consider comments made at the meetings, as well as any additional comments submitted through November 7, as the agency finalizes the study.
For view the study, visit the LB1101 Solid Waste Management Study web page at http://deq.ne.gov/NDEQProg.nsf/OnWeb/SWMS. NDEQ has also created a site where comments can be submitted electronically, at https://ecmp.nebraska.gov/DEQ-SWMS/.
