Hearing for Proposed Pesticide General Permit Scheduled March 22


Feb. 18, 2011 -- The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality has scheduled a public hearing in Lincoln on March 22 regarding the proposed issuance of a Pesticide General Permit.

The public hearing will be at 2 p.m. at the Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, Room A, Lower Level. The hearing will be preceded by an informal public information session, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the same location.

The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public testimony and evidence pertinent to the proposed issuance of NPDES General Permit NEP100000, for the application of pesticides for the control of pests to, over, or near waters of the state, provided the application is done in accordance with the eligibility requirements and other conditions and requirements set out in the General Permit.

Hard copies of the draft general permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln office, 1200 N Street, Suite 400, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. To review related information, contact (402) 471-3557.

The public comment period is open through the close of the hearing. Written comments may be submitted to NDEQ to the attention of Sharon Brunke at P.O. Box 98922, Lincoln, NE 68509-8922.

A final decision on whether to issue or modify the draft general permit will be made after all comments from the public hearing and comment period are reviewed and considered.
