NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) proposes to reissue with change a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and Nebraska Pretreatment Permit (NPDES/NPP Permit) to Archer Daniels Midland Company, Decatur, IL d/b/a ADM Processing, 7800 Thayer St., Lincoln, NE (NPDES/NPP# NE0035157; SIC 2075, 2079). The plant processes soybeans into meal and edible oil products. Treated process and non-process wastewater is discharged through Outfall 002 to Salt Creek, Segment LP2-20000 of the Lower Platte River Basin, via the city of Lincoln Northeast Water Resource Reclamation Facility. Reject water from the reverse osmosis (RO) system is discharged through Outfall 005 to Stevens Creek, Segment LP2-20200 of the Lower Platte River Basin, via man-made drainages. No treatment is provided prior to discharge. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEE’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
