NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSION AND HEARING
Notice is hereby given pursuant to the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) Title 119, Rules and Regulations Pertaining to the Issuance of Permits Under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, Chapter 23 006.06, Public Notice of Hearing, that the NDEE, NPDES and State Permits Section will be conducting a public hearing on February 23, 2023, beginning at 7:00 P.M. Central Time (CT), at the University of Nebraska – Omaha Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, Rooms 230/231, located at 6001 Dodge Street, Omaha, Nebraska. The purpose of the hearing is to receive testimony and evidence regarding the proposed NPDES permit number NE0000621 (NDEE ID 59763) in accordance with NDEE Title 119 and in accordance with NDEE Title 115, Rules of Practice and Procedure.

NDEE is also hosting a public information session. The public information session begins at 5:30 P.M. Central Time (CT) on February 23, 2023, at the University of Nebraska – Omaha Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, Rooms 230/231, located at 6001 Dodge Street, Omaha, Nebraska. The session will end at 6:30 P.M. Central Time prior to the public hearing for the proposed permit NE0000621. The public information session will provide information regarding the proposed permit and process industrial wastewater. The facility is a fossil fuel steam electric generating station. The fossil fuel steam electric power generating station discharges non-contact water through Outfall 001 and process wastewater through Outfall 008 to the Missouri River; Segment MT1-10000 in the Missouri Tributaries River Basin. Coal ash landfill storm water drainage discharges through Outfall CL1 and reverse osmosis reject water discharges through Outfall R01 to the Missouri River, if required. Outfall D01, ground water dewatering from around the process pond and ash landfill drainage pond, discharges to the Missouri River via the Minne Lusa Ditch.

All interested persons may attend and testify orally or by written submission at the public hearing. The draft permit, fact sheet, and other public information are available for review and copying at NDEE’s Lincoln Office, 245 Fallbrook Boulevard, Suite 100, Lincoln, Nebraska 68521 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (CT), weekdays, excluding holidays. A copy of the permit and fact sheet are also available on the Department’s website at http://dee.ne.gov/. To request copies of the draft permit and other information, call 402-471-3557.
