NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the Nebraska Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit to Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc., 800 Stevens Port Dr., DC407, Dakota Dunes, SD d/b/a Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc., 1131 Dakota Avenue, Dakota City, NE (NPDES# NE0001392; SIC 2011, 2077, 3111) a complex slaughterhouse and tannery. Process wastewater is discharged from a mechanical wastewater treatment system through Outfall 001 .Reverse osmosis (RO) reject water and stormwater are discharged through Outfall 002. Both outfalls discharge to the Missouri River, Segment MT1-10000 of the Missouri Tributaries Basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
