NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for the City of Lincoln, Platte River Water Treatment Plant, 401 Hwy 6, Ashland, NE (NPDES# NE0111155; SIC 4941). The potable water treatment plant is a treatment system for a public drinking water supply owned and operated by the City of Lincoln which discharges process wastewater through Outfall 006 to an undesignated tributary to Salt Creek, segment LP2-10000 in the Lower Platte River Basin. Outfall 002 is an additional outfall used for emergency overflow only and discharges to an undesignated tributary of Salt Creek in the Lower Platte River Basin. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
