NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE
Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for the City of Dakota City Potable Water Treatment Plant (PWTP), PO Box 482, Dakota City, NE (NPDES# NE0113778; SIC 4941). The publicly owned PWTP receives and treats ground water to supply public drinking water for the City of Dakota City. No discharge has been reported during 30 years of operation. The NPDES permit for discharge of backwash water to the Missouri River via the storm sewer system is continued in the event that lagoon drawdown would be required in the future. Outfall 001 is defined as the discharge from the lagoon holding cells to the Missouri River, segment MT1-10000 of the Missouri Tributaries Basin via the City of Dakota City municipal separate storm sewer system. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
