NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE
The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to modify the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. Springfield Quarry, 10755 Mitchell Rd., Papillion, NE (NPDES# NE0138517; SIC 1422). The open-pit quarry produces broken and crushed limestone construction aggregates which discharges wastewater from a dewatering pit/sedimentation basin through Outfall 001 to an undesignated tributary of the Platte River, Segment LP1-10000 of the Lower Platte River Basin. The modification to the permit moves the location of Outfall 001. The permit modification will not change the expiration date of the permit and will continue to restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays.
