NOTICE OF PERMIT ISSUANCE

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) proposes to reissue with change a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System/Nebraska Pretreatment Program (NPDES/NPP) permit to Chief Ethanol Fuels, Inc, 1111 East Industry Dr., Lexington, NE (NPDES/NPP# NE0134279; SIC 2869). The dry mill corn ethanol production facility discharges sanitary and process wastewater through Outfall 002 and 003 to Dawson County Drainage Ditch #1, a tributary to Spring Creek, Segment MP2-20300 in the Middle Platte River Basin, via the City of Lexington POTW. Outfall 001 is the direct discharge of non-process wastewater to Dawson County Drainage Ditch #1, a tributary to Spring Creek. The permit would be issued for a period of up to five years and would restrict pollutant discharges to comply with the requirements of Department regulations. The draft permit, fact sheet and other public information are available for review at NDEQ’s Lincoln Office (address below) between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. A determination to hold a hearing will be based upon factual environmental or regulatory consideration.
