Wool Fiberglass Manufacturing - Major Sources -  Subpart NNN

Applicability: eCFR Subpart NNN [ecfr.gov]

This subpart applies to:
  1. Affected sources at wool fiberglass manufacturing facilities that are, or are located at, Major Sources of HAPs*.
Affected sources:
  1. Glass-melting furnaces;
  2. Rotary spin wool fiberglass manufacturing lines that produce bonded wool fiberglass building insulation;
  3. Flame attentuation wool fiberglass manufacturing lines that produce bonded pipe or heavy-density products.

*Major Sources of HAPs emit or have the potential to emit:
  • ≥ 10 tons/year of any single HAP; or
  • ≥ 25 tons/year of total HAPs.
  • Area Sources emit less than Major Sources.

Important Dates: Source Classification
  1. Existing Sources = Commence construction or reconstruction on or before Mar 31, 1997
  2. New Sources = Commence construction or reconstruction after Mar 31, 1997
Initial Notification
  • No later than Oct 12, 1999 or 120 days after startup, whichever is later.
Compliance Dates
  1. Existing Sources = June 14, 2002
  2. New Sources = Upon startup.
Notice of Intent to Test
  • At least 60 days prior to test
Compliance Status Notification
  • No later than 60 days after test
Compliance Reports
  1. Semiannual
  2. Must cover reporting periods of Jan 1 - June 30 or July 1 - Dec 31
  3. Must be submitted no later than 30 days after the end of the reporting period.
